So as you may remember I have been working on making these gift baskets for Mothers Day. Earlier I did these Lavender Bath Melts and today I have made these easy Lavender Soaps. These were so much FUN!
What makes them so easy is that I bought some great goat’s milk soap base. This is the first time I tried making soap so I thought I would start off easy. I also bought some great soap molds with embossing patterns. I bought mine at Michaels but you can also find them here and here.
Here are all the supplies…
I started by melting the soap base in a double boiler. Some research I did mention that you also could do it in the microwave but I like the old fashioned way in a double boiler 🙂
While the soap was melting I prepared the molds. You need to place the embossing plates face side up (those are the red rubber pieces) and then I sprinkled a little bit of the dried lavender in.
Once the soap base was melted I added about 10 drops of the lavender oil and stir it well, then I poured it into the molds. I also used the same mold from the Lavender Melts to do some cute little soaps. The patterns weren’t showing up on the white very well so on the second batch I did a bit of coloring. I usually don’t like to use un-necessary additives but since these were gifts I thought it made it so much cuter. I only added it tiny but that little color change made the designs pop. I also did a few where I added just a bit of white to the mold and then added the purple.
I still have that huge bag of lavender so I see even more lavender projects coming up 🙂 Do you have a favorite? Post a link in the comments.
