The statics are growing each day, cancer is getting more and more popular. I myself am expecting to be diagnosed with it in the upcoming years. My father died from it, my grandmother died from it, my aunt has fought breast cancer, so pretty much everyone on my dad’s side of the family has had it. My mom’s side has been pretty clear of it so hoping I got my anti-cancer fighting genes from that side 🙂
Recently the “Wellness Warrior” has passed away from it. I saw a post on Facebook from Mashable announcing she has passed and the comments that followed were unbelievable and sad!
For those who don’t know Jessica Ainscough‘s story, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and after taking the traditional modern medicine plan decided to take the alternative route for healing. For seven years she fought it with this alternative way and only when her mother died (from cancer) she also gave up her fight. She chose the alternative route called the Gerson protocol. Now I’m not sure if I believe in this treatment (containing coffee enemas) but it also based on juicing and clean eating to get the body to heal itself. I haven’t totally given up on modern medicine but I do feel it’s way to focus on fixing the problem instead of figuring out what is causing the problem. I believe if given the right elements our bodies can heal themselves.
A new UK cancer study says now that 1 in 2 will develop cancer. 1 IN 2!!!! We really need to start looking around and figure out why? Why is it that when I was growing up it was only 1 in 20, now 1 in 2!!
As a society, our health has decreased dramatically, again why? I am a firm believer a lot has to do with our environment, our food, and our lifestyle. It’s not just one thing, but its a combination of a few. Ever since I developed all my food allergies and around the same time they sent my dad home to die from cancer I have been researching and researching and trying to figure out why all this is happening. The ever-growing cancer, more cases of celiacs, rise in autism and the list of increasing chronic diseases go on and on.
My research and reading has brought me across ideas that I even think that are still far out there and then there are some that I think are on the right track. One of those being the number of chemicals in our food and all the process items we are eating. A huge advocate of getting rid of those is Vani Hari, aka the Food Babe. I have been following her blog for over a year and a half now and she not only advocates for healthier food from big companies but is awesome at teaching us how to change our lifestyle one day at a time.
I recently was given a copy of her book, I haven’t been able to completely finish it yet but so far it’s wonderful. Her approach is more educational and down to earth than most health books I have read.
There is a section called the 21 days of good food habits. It’s a great way to ease yourself into a healthier lifestyle. It’s about just changing one little thing a day. Because lets face it, if you don’t enjoy something or if it’s not easy to do everyday then you just won’t do it (well I don’t at least). The idea behind this is to graduly change your ways and develop a better, healthier lifestyle.
It kills me to see all these weight loss diet pills and gimmicks that promise to take pounds off of you. So what happens when you stop taking those pills…yep the weight is going to come right back on. Until you change your LIFESTYLE your overall health isn’t going to change! We need to change how we live each day to really make a difference in our health.
I have tried to make my lifestyle cleaner and in doing so I have been ridiculed by some family members and friends (in a loving way of course) but I am hoping that some of the stuff I say does start to stick. I think my poor friend was going to punch me on our trip to Vegas, I kept pointing out all the food dangers, it’s a good thing we have been friends for 20 years 🙂
So do your health a favor and try the 21 days to a healthier you, purchase the book here and be sure to follow the Food Babe on Facebook. Or try and win a copy from me… Click here to enter my anniversary giveaway with loads of my favorite things.
Everyday I am still working on my health, it’s a slow but steady process and I do feel better than I did a few years ago. I have slowly changed my habits and now it’s my lifestyle!
Check out a post soon on how I am using Essential Oils to work on my stomach issues.
How are you working to live a better lifestyle? I challenge you to just change one thing this week, just one small change. Post in the comments what that is going to be and then I will check in to see if you have done it.
