The statics are growing each day, cancerΒ is getting more and more popular. I myself am expecting to be diagnosed with it in the upcoming years. My father died from it, my grandmother died from it, my aunt has fought breast cancer, so pretty much everyone on my dadβs side of the family has had it. My momβs side has been pretty clear of it so hoping I got my anti-cancer fighting genes from that side π
Recently the βWellness Warriorβ has passed away from it. I saw a post on Facebook from Mashable announcing she has passed and the comments that followed were unbelievable and sad!
For those who donβt know Jessica Ainscoughβs story, she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and after taking the traditional modern medicine plan decided to take the alternative route for healing. For seven years she fought it with this alternative way and only when her mother died (from cancer) she also gave up her fight. She chose the alternative route called the Gerson protocol. Now Iβm not sure if I believe in this treatment (containing coffee enemas) but it also based on juicing and clean eating to get the body to heal itself. I havenβt totally given up on modern medicine but I do feel itβs way to focus on fixing the problem instead of figuring out what is causing the problem. I believe if given the right elements our bodies can heal themselves.
A new UKΒ cancer studyΒ says now that 1 in 2 will develop cancer. 1 IN 2!!!! We really need to start looking around and figure out why? Why is it that when I was growing up it was only 1 in 20, now 1 in 2!!
As a society, our health has decreased dramatically, again why? I am a firm believer a lot has to do with our environment, our food, and our lifestyle. Itβs not just one thing, but its a combination of a few. Ever since I developed all my food allergies and around the same time they sent my dad home to die from cancer I have been researching and researching and trying to figure out why all this is happening. The ever-growing cancer, more cases of celiacs, rise in autism and the list of increasing chronic diseases go on and on.
My research and reading has brought me across ideas that I even think that are still far out there and then there are some that I think are on the right track. One of those being the number of chemicals in our food and all the process items we are eating. A huge advocate of getting rid of those is Vani Hari, aka the Food Babe. I have been following her blog for over a year and a half now and she not only advocates for healthier food from big companies but is awesome at teaching us how to change our lifestyle one day at a time.

Break Free from the Hidden Toxins in Your Food and Lose Weight, Look Years Younger, and Get Healthy in Just 21 Days!
I recently was given a copy of her book, I havenβt been able to completely finish it yet but so far itβs wonderful. Her approach is more educational and down to earth than most health books I have read.
There is a section called the 21 days of good food habits. Itβs a great way to ease yourself into a healthier lifestyle. Itβs about just changing one little thing a day. Because lets face it, if you donβt enjoy something or if itβs not easy to do everyday then you just wonβt do it (well I donβt at least). The idea behind this is to gradulyΒ change your ways and develop a better, healthier lifestyle.
It kills me to see all these weight loss diet pills and gimmicks that promise to take pounds off of you. So what happens when you stop taking those pillsβ¦yep the weight is going to come right back on. Until you change your LIFESTYLE your overall health isnβt going to change! WeΒ need to change how weΒ live each day to really make a difference in ourΒ health.
I have tried to make myΒ lifestyle cleaner and in doing so I have been ridiculed by some family members and friends (in a loving way of course) but I am hoping that some of the stuff I say does start to stick. I think my poor friend was going to punch me on our trip to Vegas, I kept pointing out all the food dangers, itβs a good thing we have been friends for 20 years π
So do your health a favor and try the 21 days to a healthier you, purchase the book hereΒ and be sure to follow the Food BabeΒ on Facebook.
Everyday I am still working on my health, itβs a slow but steady process and I do feel better than I did a few years ago. I have slowly changed my habits and now itβs my lifestyle!
Check out a post soonΒ on how I am using Essential Oils to work on my stomach issues.

Adapting Family Meals for EoE: Keeping Everyone Happy

Hi Jen –
Very timely message! Cancer is a real epidemic and prevention should be our first priority! Making Toxic Free a part of your lifestyle now – is a must!
Thanks for sharing!
Jen,
if your BMI is above 18.7 you are not doing everything you can to avoid Cancer.
I’m working on it π I’m at 22 right now. Which according to the NIH is normal.
Can you tell me where to find out more on BMI related to cancer.
Jen,
I’ve researched the BMI/Cancer connection extensively. The American Institute for Cancer research has the best documented advice on this:
http://www.aicr.org/reduce-your-cancer-risk/recommendations-for-cancer-prevention/
You’ll notice the FIRST recommendation of their cancer prevention list is “MINIMUM weight without being under weight”. That equates to a BMI of 18.5. I specifically queried them if using the BMI standard was what their guidelines refer to and they said “YES”.
If you are prone to cancer then reducing to minimum weight as they advertise may well turn off the cancer cells in your body by starving them. Cancer cells are voracious consumers of calories.
