Hey everyone! Are you ready to boost your immune system with a simple homemade remedy? Today, I’m excited to share a quick and easy recipe for making elderberry syrup in your Instapot.
Why Elderberry Syrup?
Elderberry syrup is not only great during the flu season but is also beneficial year-round as a supplement. Known for its immune-boosting properties, it is anti-inflammatory and can help manage sinus pain, back pain, nerve pain, and chronic fatigue syndrome among others. It’s a powerhouse in maintaining your overall health.
Essential Ingredients
While there are many recipes out there, the base ingredients you need are elderberries and local, organic honey. These two staples are complemented by various optional ingredients to cater to your specific tastes and health needs. Feel free to experiment with what’s available in your kitchen!
Top Tips for Making Elderberry Syrup
- Adaptable Recipe: Use whatever ingredients you have on hand. Essential elements remain, but feel free to explore with additions.
- Buy Elderberries Off Season: Prices spike during the flu season, sometimes reaching up to $47 a pound. Purchase them earlier when they are more reasonably priced. Store the dried organic berries in Mason jars for longevity.
- Use Quality Essential Oils: Not having fresh ingredients like ginger or cloves? Quality essential oils can be a great substitute. Make sure they’re labeled for internal use.
- Dosage for Maximum Benefits: A teaspoon a day helps in maintaining your immune health. If you’re feeling under the weather, increase the dosage to 3-4 times daily, or more if needed.
Storage and Sharing
Store your syrup in Mason jars in the fridge, and it will last you about two to three months. A batch can yield enough to share with friends and family—spread the love and the health benefits!
