Scale
- 2 cups of milk (or a non-dairy alternative such as almond milk or coconut milk for additional flavor)
- 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar (or adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings
Instructions
- Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk until it’s steaming, but not boiling.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a separate small bowl, mix the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
- Combine: Add the dry mixture to the heated milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps and ensure the cocoa and sugar dissolve completely.
- Add Vanilla: Once everything is mixed and warm, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings if desired.
