My battle with middle age weight

So of course just like everyone else at the beginning of the year I pledged to be better at my health. Well it’s now March and guess how much I have done… yep my once a month dance class and I think MAYBE one Zumba class. My meal planning has gone out the window and snacking is back up to junk. So now I am sitting here and my jeans are getting tighter and my energy has gone down and I am dreading the get down to your skivvies season called summer. The struggle is real! Am I alone in this?

I’m reaching 46 this year and have caught myself saying excuses like, well it’s just a fact of getting older or well I have an auto-immune disease so that is just my EOE belly. There could very well be some truth to those but I’m really thinking they are just more excuses for me not to try and fit in some exercise and get back to a healthier diet.

I used to have a fitbit and thought that when I hit 10,000 steps I was doing good. But for Christmas I got an Apple watch and the fitness tracker in there really showed how much activity and calories I was burning and I have realized it’s not much! No wonder the pounds haven’t melted off!

So I am announcing this to the world (ok, well to anyone who reads my blog) that I am done! Done giving myself excuses! Done putting off my exercise till tomorrow … which then tomorrow just becomes tomorrow again. So tonight I signed up for Young Living’s 60-day Slique challenge. 60 days from now will put me right into the middle of May so if I can stick with it I could be more in shape to buy that new bikini, well maybe trikini that I need. The thing I like about the Slique Challenge is that it’s not just about the product it’s about the whole health, changing more than just one thing. I think the key is if you can change things little by little then it won’t be so hard and I might be able to stick with it more. There is also a group component that will help with motivation.

I’m starting up a Facebook group if anyone would like to join me, you don’t have to be doing the Slique Challenge to join in, pick any 60-day Challenge you like. Maybe 60 days without pop, or 60-days of doing a 10 min walk. I’ll be posting little things you can do each day to get you up and moving, stuff you can do in 10 minutes, and stuff to get you motivated. This is going to be getting me up and moving since I will be in charge of publishing them 🙂 Click here to join me.

I did take measurements and photos (that is part of the Slique challenge) but not sure I am brave enough to post them, maybe after I have the ‘after’ versions 🙂

So cheers to this new year and to today being the start of a new chapter. Who’s in?
